bremenports' Online Information about Marine Environment Topics

The fight against climate change and protecting the marine environment are crucial issues which will be the subject of intensive international debate in future. The questions relating to these subjects will also become increasingly important for shipping and the ports. In September 2009, bremenports GmbH & Co. KG published its environmental brochure "greenports", in which it presents the campaigns and projects introduced by the port industry and the public sector to promote environment protection in the Federal Land of Bremen.

The port management company now provides online information about diverse individual topics at www.greenports.de, where the brochure can also be downloaded. The website also gives bremenports' partners an opportunity to have their say. First on the list are Hanna Pötter (Eurogate) and Peter Südbeck (Management Board of the Wadden Sea National Park of Lower Saxony). Pötter describes her work as Environmental Officer at a logistics company, whilst Südbeck gives an account of the close cooperation between the management board of the National Park and bremenports, which not only helps to protect the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site, but also promotes the interests of the seaport of Bremerhaven.
