Port authority “Hansestadt Bremisches Hafenamt”

 

Port safety and security on water and land is one of the sovereign tasks of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen in the port areas in Bremen and Bremerhaven and is the responsibility of Bremen’s port authority, HBH. Its remit includes:

admission of service providers to security areas

management of shipping traffic in the port area

tasks of the shipping office

tasks of the municipal administration, building, road, water, waste and soil protection authorities for the Überseehafen district in Bremerhaven belonging to the municipality of Bremen

Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH)

 

General shipping tasks, ship safety and security, ship surveying, nautical and hydrographical services, marine environmental protection and oceanographic tasks are the responsibility of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH), a higher federal authority within the portfolio of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (Federal Ministry for Transport, Building and Housing).
