Anyone who puts their heart and soul into sustainable developments in and around the ports of Bremen can be honored again in 2025: The nomination phase for the Green Focus Award is open!
At the end of November, there was a serious fire in the engine room of the bremenports bucket excavator Bremerhaven - due to a technical defect, as the subsequent investigations revealed. It is now clear that repairing the now 45-year-old workboat is not justifiable in view of the cost and age of the bucket dredger.
It was a rare and impressive sight: Two mighty sluice gates from the ports of Bremen have been standing behind each other in the dry dock of the Lloyd shipyard for the past few weeks. Now one of them is ready for use again: The reserve gate of the Kaiserschleuse has completed its extensive stay at the shipyard and is back in its place - with modernized technology and new, sustainable preservation it is now ready for its next use in the truest sense of the word in the Kaiserschleuse.
Once a year, the Geeste River is cleaned up: since the Clean City Control Center was founded in Bremerhaven, a team from bremenports' diving department has regularly set out to clear the river of carelessly discarded rubbish.
Port cooperation in action: bremenports has joined forces with three Northern European ports in a jointly founded consortium: as part of the “Connecting Europe Facilities” EU funding fund of the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), they are now jointly receiving support of 18.8 million euros for the supply of shore power to seagoing vessels.
