Strong connections

The ports of Bremen have first-class connections to the hinterland. This can be attributed first and foremost to the terminal railway, a highly efficient interface between the ports and the hinterland. bremenports is responsible for maintenance of rail infrastructure with a total track length of 180 km for the ports with their traditional strong railway links.

Here at bremenports we also ensure reliable inland shipping in Bremen, offering for instance excellent nautical conditions, short waiting times and high berth availability. On behalf of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, we manage 23 berths as well as the relevant shore power supply facilities.

Programmed for the future

bremenports continuously upgrades the track infrastructure. In particular, we are expanding the interim stabling capacities at the automotive and container terminals in Bremerhaven. The port location is therefore well equipped to satisfy long-term requirements if traffic figures rise as forecast over the coming years.

Digitisation in the inland shipping business is still in its infancy. We plan to accelerate this process with projects such as Digital Outer Weser and networked traffic management systems.
