Port development

We shape the future of the ports of Bremen

Maritime logistics and cargo handling are changing: we are repeatedly confronted with new demands from our customers at the ports in Bremen and Bremerhaven. We want to remain competitive in the global market sustainably and over the long term. Accordingly, our experts are continuously developing and improving our ports: we analyse the existing structures; we observe the market and other port locations very closely. We are constantly investigating where we can adjust things and where there is hidden potential. Because we want to become even better. We discuss appropriate solutions and are passionate about drawing up carefully considered master plans. And we do all of this to ensure that the ports of Bremen are equipped today to face tomorrow.

Better ports. Stronger economy.

The aim of port development is to strengthen our port locations on a sustainable basis. Regionally and also internationally. We are continually improving our competitive position. We act as pioneers and perform important work for the regional economy and for Germany as an export nation. At the same time, however, we proactively address structural changes in the port and logistics business. The “Future Concept for the Port 2035” drawn up by the Ports Committee of Bremen’s parliament serves as our guideline for all these activities.

Finding a broad footing for the Port Development Concept 2035

October saw the first of a total of three symposia, held at the German Emigration Centre, Universum Science Museum and Fischbahnhof. Depending on the pandemic situation, between 50 and 100 guests were invited to attend the live events. Between 100 and 200 people also took the opportunity to tune in digitally. In order to present the findings of the external expert opinions to a broader audience, a further public event was held at Bremen’s parliament building in April.

Do good work and tell everyone

The port is a place where people work with great enthusiasm. And we are the people who talk about it. Our marketing department wants to draw attention to the good work done here at the port and at the business enterprises and organisations at the port and logistics location of Bremen/Bremerhaven. And we are prepared to use any means to do so – whether online, social or print media.
