In future, persons who show exceptional commitment to sustainability will be presented with an award at the Envoconnect.

bremenports has presented the Green Focus Award since 2014, until now in two different categories: one for the vessel with the lowest emissions to call at the ports of Bremen and one for the shipping company with the lowest emissions overall.

This year sees the addition of a new and more personal category: in future, an additional award in the new category “Commitment” will go to someone who played a particular role in promoting sustainability at the ports of Bremen in the preceding year. “Climate protection ultimately depends on each and every one of us, which is why the Green Focus Awards will in future also honour someone whose personal commitment inspires and motivates others to do their part for sustainability,” explains bremenports Managing Director Robert Howe.

If you can think of a person whom you believe has long since deserved an award for their commitment to sustainability, you have a few weeks in which to take action: potential future award-winners can be nominated at www.bremenports.de/nachhaltigkeit/green-focus until 1 June 2024. We hope to receive a large number of suitable suggestions. Three persons from amongst all entrants will ultimately be nominated for the award and invited to the Envoconnect 2024. The award winners, who will receive two annual tickets for the Climate Museum in Bremerhaven, will be chosen by a top-ranking jury of sustainability actors in Bremen and Bremerhaven.

The winner of the new Green Focus Award in the category “Commitment” will be officially announced during the Envoconnect, the only sustainability conference to date to address this issue from the viewpoint of the ports and logistics sectors. All three nominees will have the chance to present their commitment to sustainability right there and then and encourage others to follow their example.

But quite apart from the presentation of the Green Focus Award, the Envoconnect 2024, which will take place for the second time on 19 and 20 September 2024 after its successful premiere last year, will offer a highly diverse programme: for two whole days, the event will offer inspiring presentations by well-known experts, best-practice examples, interesting panel discussions and sessions which focus not only on talking, but on developing actual sustainable solutions. You can find further information and register for the conference at www.envoconnect.com
